UNIFIL General Colussi strengthens coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces
Tyre, [12 august 2025] – As part of official meetings with the Lebanese Army, the Sector West Commander, Italian General David Colussi, met with the Commander the Commander of the 2nd Rapid Intervention Regiment, Brigadier General Jihad Khaled.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between UNIFIL and Lebanese Armed Forces, with the goal of ensuring stability and security in the region. UNIFIL Sector West is increasing its daily work in close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces to provide maximum support in control and ensure the area. This close cooperation is essential to enabling the Lebanese forces to progressively take control of the territory, ensuring protection for the local population in the delicate process of returning to their lands and homes, particularly following the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
General Colussi, talking with Brigadier General Khaled emphasized the crucial role of synergy and cooperation between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces, highlighting how joint efforts and constant communication in the field are fundamental to maintaining peace and stability in the region. General Colussi undeline the essential role of joint training to improve the common capabilities and enlarge the opportunities to collaborate. The daily coordination optimizes efforts for territorial control, civilian protection, and confidence-building among local communities, ensuring that Lebanese forces receive all necessary support to operate safely and effectively.
الجنرال كولوسي يعزز التنسيق مع الجيش اللبناني
في إطار الاجتماعات الرسمية مع الجيش اللبناني، التقى قائد القطاع الغربي في اليونيفيل، الجنرال الإيطالي دافيد كولوسي، بقائد فوج التدخل السريع الثاني، العميد الركن جهاد خالد.
شكل اللقاء فرصة مهمة لتعزيز التعاون بين اليونيفيل والجيش اللبناني بهدف ضمان الاستقرار والأمن في المنطقة. ويكثف القطاع الغربي في اليونيفيل عمله اليومي بالتنسيق الوثيق مع الجيش اللبناني لتقديم أقصى درجات الدعم في السيطرة وضمان الأمن في المنطقة.
هذا التعاون الوثيق ضروري لتمكين الجيش للبناني من استلام زمام السيطرة على الأراضي تدريجياً، وتوفير الحماية للسكان المحليين خلال العملية الحساسة للعودة إلى أراضيهم ومنازلهم، لا سيما بعد انسحاب القوات الإسرائيلية.
وأكد الجنرال كولوسي، خلال حديثه مع العميد الركن خالد، على الدور الحاسم للتآزر والتعاون بين اليونيفيل والجيش اللبناني، مشدداً على أن الجهود المشتركة والتواصل المستمر في الميدان أساسيان للحفاظ على السلام والاستقرار في المنطقة.
كما شدد الجنرال كولوسي على الدور الجوهري للتدريب المشترك في تحسين القدرات المشتركة وتوسيع فرص التعاون. ويسهم التنسيق اليومي في تحسين الجهود للسيطرة على الأرض، وحماية المدنيين، وبناء الثقة بين المجتمعات المحلية، بما يضمن حصول الجيش اللبناني على كل الدعم اللازم للعمل بأمان وفعالية.
